What is an Inlay?
An inlay is a very strong filling that is made to the exact shape of the hole you have in your tooth, rather like a jigsaw piece and it is glued in place. It is a very long-lasting strong solution for most large holes caused by decay.
What is an inlay made of?
An inlay can be made out of porcelain or white composite material or gold.
What is a crown?
A crown may a suitable solution when the tooth is very broken down. A crown is similar to a jacket like covering which fits over the tooth and is glued into place. Once finished, the crown looks just like an ordinary tooth and like an inlay, will need to be prepared by the dentist to ensure it is the best possible fit.
What are crowns made of?
Crowns are made of a variety of different materials including porcelain, gold and zirconia. Your dentist will discuss the best option depending on the strength needed and whether you would like a cosmetic option.
